The BMW X1 for 2018 made the list for US News & World Report Best Cars. The new model is sleek, sporty, and weighs 120 pounds less than the 2017 model. To achieve this without sacrificing passenger safety, the passenger compartment is embraced by arms of steel, while other parts of the body are lightweight aluminum. As most vehicle owners know, aluminum crumples upon impact, but does not shatter or splinter. BMW is making reverse cameras standard on all models, along with stand-alone navigation features. Purchasers can also look forward to LED headlamps and taillights – those visual mixed-blessing lights well-loved by those behind them, and sometimes cursed by those meeting them. The X3 model will have some exciting changes, including an 8-speed transmission, iDrive with gesture control, and a turbo-charged 4 or 6-cylinder engine. It will also have improved cargo capacity. Those are just a few of the exciting updates for the 2018 BMW models. Although many companies are targeting 2020 as the year when they go all electric, we are not seeing that trend yet for 2018 – so don’t throw away those gas cards yet.
